Graffiti is the art technique of those who want to be active actors in urban space instead of passive consumers. Graffiti works are the traces of the unheard-of. Claude Levi-Strauss opposes the “tinkerer” to the “engineer". If the engineer works according to a well-thought-out design, the tinkerer does not make his work dependent on the availability of materials or tools. The tinkerer's work is destined to be torn down as soon as it has been achieved, so that new worlds can emerge from its fragments. My photographs of anonymous graffiti works (a work in progress since 2011) are a homage to all urban tinkerers.
